comment

Thorsten Frings, who was ranked 15th, canceled at short notice, and Hans-Jürgen Kühl moved up to Group B for him.

First game day

Group stage

As expected , Germany's number 1, Martin Horn from Essen, was able to prevail in both games on the first match day . His participation in the final round should therefore be safe. Somewhat surprising was the defeat of the newly crowned Vice European Champion Christian Rudolph from Cologne in his second game against Ronny Lindemann from Witten, who had just won the German championship with his club " BCC Witten 1931 ". The 4-time Berlin champion Çengiz Karaça lost his first match against Andreas Niehaus just 39:40, just as he couldn't score against Kersten Reinartz. With two victories, Niehaus already had one foot in the quarter-finals. For the co-organizer of the tournament, Jens Eggers, the path to the final round was still open with one win and one defeat, as was Markus Galla, who was third. For number 4 on the seeding list and Kozoom author Markus Schönhoff, however, after two defeats in the group phase, no participation in the final round is in sight.

Second game day

Group stage

Horn was also able to finish his third group game with 40:31 in 23 shots and was confirmed as the first quarter-finalist. Germany's number 2, Christian Rudolph, was also able to enjoy the quarter-finals after his win against Torsten Anders as second in the group. However, group winner was Ronny Lindemann, who won all group games. In Group C, the last games were crucial for participation in the quarter-finals. After Andreas Niehaus also won his last group game, he was group first and fifth in the final with 6 match points. The other three players had each won a game and were therefore tied. The overall average now had to decide who ended up in second place. With fifteen thousandths of a second, Markus Galla was just ahead of Çengiz Karaça, who was left behind. The last two participants were Stefan Hetzel with three wins and Jens Eggers lost against Hetzel. The latter played the best series of the tournament with 15 points . Martin Horn from Essen made the best game of the group stage with 18  shots and an individual average (BED) of 2.222.

Quarter finals

Even in the round of the “last 8”, Martin Horn had no problems with his opponent and after 25 shots he shot to 50:23 and made it to the semi-finals first. In the second game in the afternoon, Ronny Lindemann and Markus Galla met. Both players were tied throughout, with Galla in the end with only three balls to 50:47. In the first evening game, Christian Rudolph took it easy. He needed 38 shots in 2h: 15 m to send Andreas Niehaus home with 50:41. He will now meet his World Cup partner Martin Horn in the semi-finals. At the same time the game was over at the next table, although 42 recordings were played there. Klaus Bosel left the table as the winner and meets Markus Galla in the semi-finals.

Third game day

Semifinals

In the first game, Horn against Rudolph, Rudolph had no chance. Horn finished the game after 16 shots with 50:19 (BED 3,125) and was the first player to reach the final. This was the " best game " of the tournament. The second game didn't go so quickly. Klaus Bosel needed 35 shots to beat Markus Galla just 50:48.

final

The final was a balanced game over the entire distance. Although Horn was always in the lead, sometimes with 11 points, Bosel always managed to catch up with just a few points. In the final phase, Horn had the better nerve and finished the match in a 6 shot with 50:41. He was the first winner of this tournament series.

Group stage

The groups were named in honor of four of the most successful German players. In the preliminary round, the game was played in four groups of four players each, and the first two of the group moved on to the final round (quarter-finals). The grouping was as follows:
