Edward Lancaster Lee (born September 29, 1905 in New York City , † May 18, 1969 ), was an American three-cushion player and world champion.

Career

Although three cushion was still popular in the US at the time, most US players played in their own, separate world championships in their country. These were dominated by Willie Hoppe and Welker Cochran . Edward Lee was the first and so far only American who could win the UMB World Championship . In the final of 1936 Lee was able to assert himself against his compatriot Eugene Deardof and win the title unbeaten.

As an amateur, representing the venerable New York Athletic Club , he won the National Association of Amateur Billiard Players Championship in 1931 against Alfredo de Oro (Jun.), Son of Cuban world champion Alfredo de Oro with 50:27 in 73 shots and a maximum series of 16 .

Lee was also an amateur long-distance swimmer in which he was also US champion.
