Rini van Bracht (born June 1, 1947 in Waalwijk ) is a Dutch carom player and multiple world and European three-cushion champion .

Career

At the age of 24, Rini van Bracht first took part in a world championship. In Groningen he finished second behind the almost unbeatable Belgian Raymond Ceulemans . He had to wait another eleven years before he could win his first world title. In 1982 in Guayaquil , Ecuador , the time had come. The permanent world champions of recent years Ceulemans and the Japanese Nobuaki Kobayashi were not at the start. Van Bracht seized his chance and secured the title. In 1984 he became world champion for the second time. It was the time when the best three-cushion players were professionals in the World Cup and were not allowed to participate in World Championships.

It was different at his first European championship. All the best three-cushion players competed in the Belgian Löwen in 1984. Here he secured the title in the final against Frenchman Egidio Vierat . Van Bracht won his second European title in 1993 in Corbeil-Essonnes, France . Here the BWA professionals were not at the start again.

Rini van Bracht lost 90% of his vision in one eye in a car accident. Despite this very severe handicap, he won four international titles.
