history
The World Cup tournament in Porto had an absolutely deserved winner with Torbjörn Blomdahl . With a 3-0 set win against the Belgian Roland Forthomme , which was also the clearest final victory in a World Cup tournament, he secured his 36th World Cup victory. Blomdahl underlined his class in the semifinals. Against the Greek Filipos Kasidokostas , who played strong in this tournament , he was 0-2 sets behind. He won the next three sets with 45: 7 points in 15 shots. All of the tournament best performances, but the best individual average (BED) he had to share with the strong Korean Kim Kyung-roul , were on his credit side.

^ Heinrich Weingartner: Billiards . No. 196 . Vienna July 2007, p. 26-32 .
The three-cushion World Cup was organized by the founding association, the "
Billiards Worldcup Association " (BWA) until 1998 . Disputes between the BWA and the world association
Union Mondiale de Billard (UMB) led to parallel tournaments between 1994 and 1997. The UMB / BWA organized the tournament together until the beginning of 1999. Since the dissolution of the BWA in 1999, the UMB has been the sole organizer.
From 1988-1991 the UMB did not host any world championships. During this time, the annual overall winner of the World Cup was crowned world champion.
