Jorge Tenreiro Theriaga (born March 8, 1954 in Lisbon ) is a Portuguese doctor and three-cushion player .

Career

Theriaga started playing billiards at the age of 12. At 18 he began studying medicine. At that time he was already one of Portugal's greatest talents, but he retained his amateur status, finished his studies and only continued to play billiards on the side. In 1980 he won his first national three-cushion title. Two years later he had already collected 19 more titles, including in Cadre 71/2.

From the 1990s to 2006 he represented Portugal at the three-cushion world championship for national teams , not missing a tournament. In 1994 he won the silver medal with his partner Ribeiro, ahead of Germany A ( Christian Rudolph and Maximo Agguire) and Germany B ( Johann Schirmbrand and Christian Zöllner). After 10 years of abstinence, Theriaga had already agreed to participate in the Team World Cup when he withdrew it shortly before the start of the tournament for professional reasons.

Theriaga has been a member of the Sporting Clube de Portugal (Sporting Lisbon) since he was eight days old .
