The SSC Fürth (officially: Snooker-Sport-Club Fürth eV ) is a snooker club from Fürth . The club, founded in 1999, is the organizer of the Paul Hunter Classics, which has been held annually since 2004 .

history

The SSC Fürth was founded in 1999 and a year later it became a member of the German Billiard Union . In 2003 he was promoted to the 1st Bundesliga for the first time as a champion of the 2nd Bundesliga . After only one season, which ended pointlessly in eighth place, the club rose again. In 2012 , after a temporary relegation to the Bayernliga, the SSC Fürth managed to return to the first division as champions of the 2nd Bundesliga, from which the club was relegated to eighth place with just one point in the 2013/14 season. The first team was then withdrawn from the Bundesliga and took over the starting position of the second team in the Bayernliga. There, the Fürth team took fourth place in the 2015/16 season. Then they were able to prevail in the promotion round and thus managed to return to the second division.

In 2004, the SSC Fürth hosted the Fürth Grand Prix for the first time, which at the time was an invitation tournament. In 2007 the tournament was renamed the Paul Hunter Classic and upgraded to a minor ranking tournament in 2010 as part of the Players Tour Championship . After the PTC was discontinued in 2016, the Pro-Am tournament is now a direct part of the Main Tour as a ranking tournament .
