The 1. Snooker Club Essen eV (short: 1. SC Essen ) is a 1991 founded snooker club from Essen , which in 2001 became German runner-up .

history

1. SC Essen was founded in December 1991. In 1999 he was promoted to the 1st Bundesliga for the first time and was then third. In the 2000/01 season, the team achieved the greatest success in the club's history with the runner-up.

However, after finishing fifth in the following season, the club announced the Bundesliga team due to structural problems. Then it was possible to move up from the Oberliga to the 2nd Bundesliga and return to the 1st Bundesliga in 2004. After another four years in this league, in 2008 the club was relegated to seventh place for the first time in the first division.

Shortly afterwards, the association moved with the Snookers billiard café from the city center to Haedenkampstrasse. During this move, part of the club separated and founded its own club, the SC 147 Essen eV Then the club rose to the top division, before it stopped for one season in the 2012/13 season due to restructuring at the DBU participated in league games.

Since the 2013/14 season, 1. SC Essen has once again been represented by one team and in the same season won the championship title in the regional league with 14 wins in 16 games and 14 points ahead of second-placed BC Oberhausen . In the 2014/15 season they reached second place in the association league and thus rose to the top division. In the 2017/18 season, 1. SC Essen provided 3 teams, 2 in the regional league and 1 team in the major league, as in the previous year, and since the 2018/19 season there have been 2 teams in the major league and the regional league.

After almost 26 years of subletting in the "Snookers" billiard bar, the 1st Snooker Club Essen eV has had its own clubhouse since summer 2017. With a lot of love and commitment, the members have created a snooker club that is one of the most beautiful clubs in Germany. With 4 full-size snooker tables and, since 2018, the star training table by Lukas Kleckers, members have enough play options with 5 tables. The club also has an exclusive counter area, a cozy lounge corner and a dart zone.
