Boomerang ( Russian Бумеранг ) is the name for a Russian Radschützenpanzer .

Status of the project

In 2012, the Russian state news agency RIA Novosti announced that copies of the armored personnel carrier would be delivered to the troops in 2013, and in 2013 a 1: 1 model of the tank was shown at the Russia Arms Expo 2013 . All three projects are strictly confidential and will not be presented to the public "in the near future".

According to Alexander Postnikow , the commander in chief of the Russian army , the wheeled armored vehicles will be added to the structure from 2015 [obsolete] . The boomerang armored car was first shown at the Victory Parade in May 2015.

Technology and armament

In contrast to the BTR-60 and its successors, the engine is located in the front area of the vehicle. This created space for a hatch in the stern, through which the crew can get up and down better protected.

The combat set of the boomerang armored personnel carrier consists of 500 rounds of 30 mm ammunition, four Kornet anti-tank guided missiles and 2000 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition.
