Al-Wahsh ( Arabic الوحش, DMG al-Waḥš ) is the name of a protected vehicle from Jordanian production that was developed in the 2010s.
Development history
The protected wheeled vehicle Al-Wahsh was developed in the early 2010s by the Jordanian state arms company King Abdullah II Design and Development Bureau (KADDB) and presented at armaments fairs, in particular at the local SOFEX trade fair , in 2016 . Essentially, it is a troop transport that comes in different versions, e.g. B. is offered as a 105 mm mortar carrier or as a protected police vehicle .
technology
The all-wheel drive vehicle (4 × 4) is based on a chassis supplied by the Czech mechanical engineering company Tatra . The armored body was developed by KADDB and offers ballistic protection according to STANAG 4569 Level 1–2. In addition to the commander and driver, the vehicle can accommodate eight other people, four of them looking inward on one side. A wide variety of weapons can be installed on the roof, including machine guns , anti-tank missiles and remote-controlled weapon stations with tubular weapons up to 30 mm in caliber. An Al-Wahsh version, which was shown at SOFEX 2016 , was equipped with an Aselsan turret with four anti-tank missile launch containers and a 7.62 mm machine gun. The troop transporter Al-Wahsh is powered by a 370 hp diesel engine, which is coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission and enables a top speed of 110 km / h and a maximum range of 600 km.
