The Terrex is a wheeled armored personnel carrier from the Singaporean company ST Engineering . The amphibious 8 × 8 propelled vehicle has modular armor and armament and can be transported in a C-130 transport aircraft.
history
Terrex began as a private project between ST Engineering and Timoney Technology and was intended for the export market. The original AV-81 version still had conventional coil springs and dampers, the later AV-82 version uses hydropneumatic struts with active damper control . In mid-2004, a prototype and a pre-production model were tested in Asia and Europe. The vehicle was further improved, the reason for this was the tender for the wheeled vehicles of the Brigade Combat Teams .
The AV-82 version was developed in 2005. The drive train was improved, the suspension was replaced by a hydropneumatic. Optionally, the ground clearance can be adjusted. The V-shaped sub-floor was replaced by a flat one. The rear suspension has been redesigned.
technology
The vehicle is amphibious and can be transported in a C-130 transport aircraft. In the water, the vehicle is propelled by two water jet drives. The driver is sitting in the front left in the tub, next to him is the engine. The rest of the vehicle can be designed freely, the maximum payload is 9.5 tons. It can range from remote-controlled weapon stations on automatic cannons be selected up to 105 mm cannon armament all options.
The vehicle is protected from mines, has an anti-lock braking system and a tire pressure control system.

Singapore : The Singapore Army ordered 135 Terrex APCs to replace the outdated M706 . Operational readiness is expected in February 2010. The vehicles are equipped with an acoustic system for locating shooters and a battlefield management system .
