Didgori ( Georgian დიდგორი) is a Georgian armored personnel carrier based on chassis from the Ford F Super Duty series . The vehicle was developed by the Georgian military research institute STC Delta . The Didgori armored personnel carrier has been introduced into the Georgian armed forces since 2010 . The vehicle was named after the Battle of Didgori , which took place in Georgia in 1121.
Duties and armament
The vehicle is designed for combat management in urban areas as well as for police tasks. The armor plates are beveled more than on the similar Israeli Wolf Armored Vehicle in order to create a lower sensitivity to fire without increasing the thickness of the armor plates. Forward and backward cameras are used for area surveillance. A heavy M134 machine gun in caliber 7.62 × 51 mm NATO , an M2-HB machine gun in caliber 12.7 × 99 mm NATO , a 40 mm grenade launcher or AT-5 Spandrel anti -tank missiles can be installed as armament . The vehicle is equipped with thermal imaging cameras as standard .
During the development of the vehicle, the demands of the Georgian military were specifically addressed and the vehicle was designed in a manner similar to transport tanks from other countries.
A seven-seat and a nine-seat variant of the vehicle were also produced. However, both variants are equally heavily armored so that the vehicle protects the crew from 7.62 mm bullets, sniper fire and mines.
