The Radschützenpanzer SBA-60K2 Bulat (APC) was developed jointly by KAMAZ develops and Zaschita Corporation as a private project from its own funds. Development of this vehicle began in 2010 and was completed in 2013. It is a further development of the earlier BPM-97 (referred to by the manufacturer as KAMAZ-43269), 4 × 4-wheel Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicle (MRAP) vehicle. Russia currently has 15 Bulat vehicles, which were delivered at the end of 2014, and another 50 vehicles have been ordered.
technology
The layout of the Bulat SBA-60-K2 is very similar to the old Soviet BTR-152 . The engine is in the front, the commander and driver sit behind the engine and the troop unit is behind. The Bulat APC consists of a KamAZ-5350 6x6 chassis instead of the 4x4 chassis. That is equipped with a completely closed armor and can be used in many functions: transport of soldiers and equipment, patrol and convoy escort missions as well as mine and IED clearance.
The troop compartment offers space for 8 fully equipped soldiers and 2 crew members. The soldiers enter and exit the vehicle through the double doors that are located at the rear of the fuselage and open outwards, each door has a single bulletproof glass window and a fire opening. The roof of the crew compartment has 6 hatches, and both sides of the hull can be fitted with three to four bulletproof glass windows with an opening under each window.
The Bulat APC is powered by a KamAZ-740.31-240 turbo diesel engine with 240 hp combined with a 10-speed manual gearbox. Although the Bulat is built on a 6x6 configuration with wheels, it only has limited off-road mobility. It is equipped with a central tire pressure regulation system and a self-winding winch.
Standard equipment includes air conditioning, a motorized fire extinguishing system, and special racks for rifles and other personal weapons. There are a number of other options available, including a satellite land navigation system, cameras for 360-degree visibility, and additional heating.
The Bulat's armor can withstand direct hits from 7.62mm caliber. The vehicle has distinctive, highly angled, plated armor that can deflect the shots of small arms and artillery shells, and a V-shaped hull to increase protection against mine and explosive explosions up to an explosive force of 1 kg of TNT. The Bulat is also fitted with mine-proof seats. The Bulat can be armed with a remotely controlled 7.62mm or 12.7mm machine gun.
The Listva demining and EOD vehicle, equipped with mine detection and disposal equipment, is based on the SBA-60K2 Bulat. The Listva is to clear routes for the Topol , Topol-M and Yars mobile ICBMs . It entered service with the strategic missile forces in 2014 . Listva is specially shielded against electromagnetic radiation in order to protect the crew from the harmful influences of the electronic mine control systems.
