The KamAZ-5325 ( Russian КамАЗ-5325 ) is a truck produced by the KAMAZ plant in Naberezhnye Chelny . The vehicle, built from 1988 to 2003, was the manufacturer's first two-axle truck and was produced in different versions.
vehicle description
The vehicle is technically very similar to the KamAZ-5320 or the KamAZ-53212 , each with three axles. The standard eight-cylinder diesel engine from KamAZ with a displacement of 10.85 liters was installed, the version KamAZ-74006.10 with an output of 220 hp (162 kW). Alternatively, the same engine with a turbocharger and 260 HP (191 kW) was used, but with a different designation as KamAZ-7403.10. The power is then transmitted to the rear axle via cardan shafts via a five-speed manual transmission.
It is unusual that the axles do not come from KamAZ's own production, but were supplied by Rába from Hungary. Accordingly, no Trilex rims were used, as was customary on other vehicles of the manufacturer at the time.
The cabin corresponded to that of all KamAZ trucks and has a sleeping space. This means that the truck can also be used in long-distance transport. The braking system consists of drum brakes on all wheels that are pneumatically operated. Trailers can also be connected to the braking system.
A successor to the truck, the KamAZ-43253, has been built since around 2001 . Production of the KamAZ-5325 was discontinued in 2003. Some copies made it to South America.
Model variants
A total of four different vehicle versions were built, two flatbed trucks and two tractor units.
- KamAZ-5315 - The lighter version of the flatbed truck with a permissible gross weight of 16 tons and ten tons of payload.
- KamAZ-5325 - Heavier flatbed truck with a technically permissible load of 13 tons and a total weight of 19 tons.
- KamAZ-5415 - tractor unit, for the domestic market, up to 34 tons total weight of the tractor unit.
- KamAZ-5425 - tractor unit, for the foreign market, up to 34 tons total weight of the tractor unit.
The KamAZ-5425S was built on the basis of the KamAZ-5425. This is a custom-made product for truck racing competitions.

The rear axle load of 13 tonnes is technically permissible, but would be limited to 11.5 tonnes by road traffic regulations in Germany, for example . This also reduces the possible total weight of the truck. However, this regulation may differ from country to country.
