The KamAZ-53605 ( Russian КамАЗ-53605 ) is a truck produced by the KAMAZ plant in Naberezhnye Chelny . It was originally built as a tipper, but is now also offered as a chassis for special bodies.

In 2005, KAMAZ presented a new two-axle construction tipper. It was already clear in September that the vehicle would go into series production. The KamAZ-53605 is located above the KamAZ-43255 and below various three-axle vehicles.

The manufacturer also officially offered the vehicle for sale in 2005. As of 2016, KAMAZ is also producing a version as a chassis. It is typically used for special bodies, including road sweepers and tank trucks. The water cannon "Schtorm" (Russian Шторм), which is also used in the military, uses the chassis of the KamAZ-53605 as a base. Tipper trucks are still produced, but the body comes from Neftekamski Avtosawod (NefAZ for short). However, both companies market the vehicle. KAMAZ sells both the chassis and the tipper, NefAZ only the tipper. Neftekamski Awtosawod is a subsidiary of KAMAZ and has been building bodies for dump trucks since the 1970s.

The built-in technology changed over time, especially the engine. At the beginning, different engines of the type KamAZ-740 were used, which produce either 260 HP (191 kW) or 280 HP (206 kW). Both are V8 turbo diesel engines with a displacement of 10.85 liters. The current version, KamAZ-53605-A4, on the other hand, is equipped with an in-line six-cylinder diesel engine from Cummins Engine , which has a displacement of just 6.7 liters but produces 298 hp (219 kW). A transmission from ZF Friedrichshafen is also installed.

The permissible trailer load of the truck is 14 tons. Given the technically permissible total weight, the train weighs 34.5 tonnes. This weight is often not feasible in road traffic because there are restrictions on the axle loads or other weight restrictions apply to two-axle vehicles. In Germany, as in many other European countries, the permissible total weight of a truck with two axles is limited to 18 tons.

Technical specifications

The data listed here apply to chassis of the type KamAZ-53605, as offered by KAMAZ as of 2016. Individual values can fluctuate slightly over the construction period and due to various modifications to the vehicles.

Dimensions and weights

  • Length: 6650 mm (7130 mm)
  • Width: 2500 mm
  • Height: 2945 mm
  • Wheelbase: 3950 mm (4200 mm)
  • Turning circle: 16 m
  • Frame height: 1130 mm

  • permissible total weight: 20,500 kg
  • Front axle load: 7500 kg
  • Rear axle load: 13,000 kg

The values in brackets apply to the long wheelbase model. The rear axle load of 13 tonnes is technically permissible, but would be limited to 11.5 tonnes by road traffic regulations in Germany, for example . This also reduces the possible total weight of the truck. The version as a tipper has a loading volume of 6.5 cubic meters, the body can only be emptied to the rear.
