The KamAZ-65201 ( Russian КамАЗ-65201 ) is a heavy truck produced by the KAMAZ plant in Naberezhnye Chelny . The four-axle vehicle is technically based on the KamAZ-6520 and is located above the older KamAZ-6540 , which achieves a lower payload and a lower overall weight.

In 1996, KAMAZ launched a four-axle truck based on the three-axle KamAZ-65115 . In 2002, the KamAZ-6520, a three-axis successor to the KamAZ-65115, was developed and built. A four-axle vehicle, the KamAZ-65201, was also created on this basis.

All versions of the KamAZ-65201 are equipped with a large-volume four-stroke V8 diesel engine manufactured in-house by KAMAZ. The engine with almost twelve liters of displacement develops 400 hp (294 kW) and delivers a maximum torque of almost 1800 Nm. In earlier years of construction, the same engine with an output of 360 PS (265 kW) was installed. The transmission is supplied by the German company ZF Friedrichshafen . It is a manual sixteen-speed gearbox.

As of 2016, KAMAZ is offering six different versions of the truck. It refers to:

  • KamAZ-65201-26012-73 - version as a chassis for a payload of 30 tons (without body).
  • KamAZ-65201-21010-43 "Люкс" - model as a tipper with a completely redesigned cabin and a slightly enlarged wheelbase. The curb weight is 15 tons, the payload 29 tons and the technically permissible total weight 44 tons.
  • KamAZ-65201-26011-73 and KamAZ-65201-26013-73 - models with a reduced tipping body with a capacity of 16 cubic meters and a payload of only 19 tons.
  • KamAZ-65201-26010-73 and KamAZ-65201-26012-73 - versions with a 20 cubic meter body and a payload of 25.5 tons.

The respective total weight of 41 or even 44 tons is technically permissible. Many states have weight restrictions on four-axle trucks, as well as restrictions on the permissible axle load. Since 2016 there has been a successor for the vehicle with the KamAZ-65801 .
