The KamAZ-6350 ( Russian КамАЗ-6350 ), also known as a "Mustang" (Russian Мустанг), is a heavy all-wheel drive truck produced by the KAMAZ plant in Naberezhnye Chelny . The vehicle has been built since 1998 and is also designed for military use. The Ural-5323 is a very similar vehicle that was also made in Russia.

In addition to the KamAZ-6350 with four axes, the family also includes the KamAZ-5350 with three and the KamAZ-4350 with two axes.

The first prototypes of the KamAZ-6350 were built back in the 1980s. After the KamAZ-4310 appeared around 1981 , a prototype of a four-axis version was presented as early as 1983. This vehicle received the index KamAZ-6310. However, there was no series production.

In 1991, KAMAZ designed a new family of military vehicles under the name Mustang . This again included a four-axis version, which was now designated as the KamAZ-6320. Again, there was no series production, but the experience gained with the vehicles later flowed into the construction of the KamAZ-6350.

From 1998, various prototypes of the KamAZ-6350 appeared. In 2002 the Russian armed forces decided to accept the vehicles. Various properties have been improved compared to earlier prototypes. Among other things, it had to be ensured that a speed of at least 40 km / h was achieved in the field. In 2003, 30 vehicles were sold to a civil oil company. At the beginning of 2004, the plant was producing seven to nine vehicles per month.

In 2004 a successor for a payload of 14 tons appeared with the KamAZ-63501 . Since 2005, a model with a 20 ton payload has been built with the more modern KamAZ-6560 .

As of 2011, the Russian armed forces had 49 KamAZ-6350 vehicles in stock. In 2009 there were also more than 200 vehicles of the successor type KamAZ-63501. In addition to the standard flatbed structure, various military devices can be mounted on the chassis. In addition, the KamAZ-6350 serves as a basis for heavy fire fighting vehicles, which are also used in civilian areas, especially at airports.

The export version of the Serbian wheeled howitzer Nora B-52 is based on the 8 × 8 chassis of the KamAZ-6350.
