The KamAZ-53229 ( Russian КамАЗ-53229 ) is a truck produced by the KAMAZ plant in Naberezhnye Chelny . The vehicle was built in series from 1995 to around 2014. With the KamAZ-53228 there is a version with all-wheel drive , and the slightly lighter KamAZ-53215 is very similar to the vehicle.

Series production of the vehicle began in 1995, and thus at the same time as the lighter KamAZ-53215. As with this one, it is unclear exactly by when trucks of this type were built. What is certain is that they were taken out of production by the end of 2014 at the latest.
The KamAZ-53229 was used in particular where the eleven-tonne loadable chassis of the KamAZ-53215 was too weak and no special off-road capability was necessary. This particularly affected tank trucks. Heavier construction machines, timber trucks and mobile cranes were often equipped with all-wheel drive instead , and the otherwise similar KamAZ-53228 was used accordingly.
During the construction period, the vehicle was offered with different wheelbases and thus in different lengths. The AZ-56216 tanker also uses the chassis of the KamAZ-53229. An eight-cylinder diesel engine from in-house production is installed in all versions and generates 240 hp (176 kW) from a displacement of just under eleven liters.
A few years before production was discontinued, KAMAZ launched the KamAZ-65117 as its successor.
