The KamAZ-65116 ( Russian КамАЗ-65116 ) is a truck produced by the KAMAZ plant in Naberezhnye Chelny . The three-axle tractor unit is designed for trucks with a total weight of up to around 38 tons and is based on the KamAZ-65117 platform truck .

Production of the KamAZ-65116 began back in 2005, with the vehicle replacing the KamAZ-54115 from 2011 . The version with a flatbed has also been built since 2005, the technically very similar KamAZ-65115 tipper , which also belongs to the vehicle family, has been in production since 1995.

At the beginning of production, the trucks were equipped with in-house engines from KAMAZ. The eight-cylinder diesel engines of the type KamAZ-740.30 meet the EURO-3 emissions standard and, with a displacement of 10.85 liters, produce 260 hp (191 kW). The fifth wheel load was initially 15 tons and the gross vehicle weight of the trailer was about 36.5 tons. In addition, vehicles for export were fitted with Cummins L325 engines. These diesel engines produce 300 hp (221 kW) with a displacement of 8.85 liters and have a maximum torque of 1300 Nm. The service life of the engine is stated to be over a million kilometers.

Today, six-cylinder in-line engines from Cummins Engine are used, which produce 298 hp (219 kW) with a reduced displacement of just 6.7 liters. The manual transmission comes from the German supplier ZF Friedrichshafen and has nine forward gears and one reverse gear. The fifth wheel load has been increased to 15.5 tonnes and the gross vehicle weight of the train to just under 38 tonnes. Also, Bosch supplies parts for the vehicles. In the course of the production time, the look of the driver's cab was revised.

Like the KamAZ-65117, the vehicle does not have all-wheel drive, only the two rear axles are driven. Even so, the Russian military uses it for transportation tasks.
