The KamAZ-635050 ( Russian: КамАЗ-635050 ) is a truck from KAMAZ-master , the rally factory team of the Russian truck manufacturer KAMAZ in Naberezhnye Chelny . The heavy three-axle vehicle with all-wheel drive and box body serves as an escort vehicle and has been in use since 2003.

vehicle description

KamAZ-635050 vehicles were first built in 2003. There is no commercial series production. However, KAMAZ produces similar off-road trucks in series, for example the KamAZ-65224 , which are less motorized and not designed for rally use.

The KamAZ-635050 is equipped with an in-line six-cylinder diesel engine from Cummins Engine . The large-volume, 15-liter engine has a regular output of 700 and a maximum of 720 hp (530 kW). The manual transmission with 16 gears is supplied by ZF Friedrichshafen , the clutch comes from Sachs . Other assemblies such as the driver's cab come from KAMAZ itself.

The truck is equipped with a double cabin , in this way four seats can be accommodated. Over the years, more trucks of this type were built, including with more modern cabs, as they are used in series trucks. The structure includes sleeping places, a shower, a kitchen and storage space for spare parts and tools. The payload is 8.5 tons. The construction was made in France.

The chassis of the first two vehicles, built in 2003, comes from the KamAZ-43118 production truck , but has been heavily modified. It took a total of six months to assemble the vehicles. Unusual technical solutions were also chosen, for example parts of the suspension come from the Soviet BMD airborne vehicle . The cab was heavily modified and equipped with a high engine tunnel between the seats and a roll cage . Many components are identical to those of the racing vehicles.

The vehicle is used at various events, including the Dakar Rally .
