The KamAZ-53228 ( Russian КамАЗ-53228 ) is an all-wheel drive truck produced by the KAMAZ plant in Naberezhnye Chelny . The vehicle was built in series from the early 1990s until 2009. With the KamAZ-53229 there is a version without all-wheel drive, the KamAZ-65111 tipper uses the same chassis as the KamAZ-53228.

The prototype of a four-wheel drive truck was presented in 1989 and at that time it was already named KamAZ-53228. The occasion was the 25th anniversary of KAMAZ.
Series production began after the collapse of the Soviet Union in the early 1990s. Until 1993 or 1994 the vehicle still rolled off the assembly line with a flatbed structure. After that, only chassis for special bodies were manufactured. Among them was a construction for the transport of long timber, the corresponding vehicle received the index KamAZ-6423. ATZ-56215 tankers also used the chassis; they are designed for the transport of fuels.
Since 2003, the chassis of the KamAZ-53228 has been used in dump trucks of the type KamAZ-65111. It will still be installed there as of mid-2016. Production of the KamAZ-53228, on the other hand, was discontinued in 2008 or 2009.
With relatively small road tires and double tires on the rear axles, the KamAZ-53228 is not suitable for difficult terrain. The manufacturer produced other trucks for such operations, for example the KamAZ-43114 or KamAZ-43118 .
