The KamAZ-6560 is a heavy truck that KAMAZ has been building in series since 2005. In the current version from 2016, it is offered by the manufacturer as a flatbed truck with a loading crane attached to the rear. The cabin has a sleeping space, so the vehicles can also be used in long-distance transport. In the area of engines, a self-made KAMAZ is used. The large-volume diesel unit generates a nominal output of 400 hp (294 kW) from a displacement of just under twelve liters. Other parts are purchased from Western European suppliers. For example, the manual transmission comes from the German company ZF Friedrichshafen .

A similar vehicle, the KamAZ-63501, has been rolling off the assembly line since 2004, but it is lighter and can only be loaded with 14 tons instead of 20. The Ural-5323 , also from Russian production, is very similar to this vehicle and its predecessors .

Various special vehicles are manufactured on the basis of the KamAZ-6560. This includes military weapon systems, fire engines and also truck cranes . While the AA-13/60 (6560) apron fire engine is a typical example of fire fighting vehicles, it is KS-65713 for truck cranes. An armored version of the KamAZ-6560 was also designed for military use.

The vehicles are highly off-road. With a ground clearance of 380 millimeters, permanent all-wheel drive and eight driven wheels with large individual tires, they are able to cross various obstacles. These include trenches 1.8 meters wide, steps 0.5 meters high and water passages up to 1.8 meters deep. The permissible trailer load is still 7500 kg off-road, while it is 12,000 kg on the road. This results in permissible total weights of well over 40 tonnes for the road train, as they are allowed to be driven on the roads of Western Europe.
