The words Chosen People refer to the Jews. The thesis of the “chosen people” allows for some misinterpretation. Instead of chosen one could also translate: chosen , chosen or chosen . Modern Judaism understands "chosenness" as a great ethical obligation to be the mediator between God and creation for all people.

The answer to the question of which duties was chosen can be found in the Torah section Exodus 19: 3-6, in which God speaks to Moses on Mount Sinai: to be "a kingdom of priests and a holy people." The reference to priests does not refer to the priests who are descended from Aharon the high priest (Kohanim), but to a “priestly function” of all Jews. This function means bringing God to people and elevating people so that they come closer to God. This "priestly function" was called "light for the world" by the prophet Isaiah. Regardless of whether they live in Eretz Israel or in the Diaspora, every single Jew should be aware of the importance of being a representative of the Jewish people. The body may be in exile, the Jewish soul is never in exile.
