The KamAZ-5410 ( Russian КамАЗ-5410 ) is a truck from the production of the Russian KAMAZ plant in Naberezhnye Chelny . The vehicle was the manufacturer's first standard tractor unit and was built in series for 30 years, from 1976 to 2006. With the KamAZ-54112 there is a very similar successor that was manufactured in parallel from 1980.

Vehicle history

As with the other models of the first generation, the first prototypes of the vehicle were built in the first half of the 1970s. Mass production began in 1976. The vehicle was designed for semi-trailers up to around 19 tons in weight; the KamAZ-740 diesel engine with 210 hp was too weak for larger loads. In order to improve the off-road mobility, the two driven rear axles were equipped with differential locks and a gear reduction was installed. The tractors were not intended for difficult terrain, in particular the all-wheel drive was missing.

From 1980, a successor to the second generation was built in parallel with the KamAZ-54112 , which differed in particular through a higher payload. Even so, production of the KamAZ-5410 continued until 2006.

The manufacturer supplied the trucks in various modifications for the tropical , polar and temperate climates . The version could be operated for cold areas down to −50 ° C.

The GDR imported trucks of the type KamAZ-5410 between 1978 and 1983. A hydraulic system was retrofitted in various vehicle constructions in some cases in-house in order to operate the vehicles with tipping trailers. These vehicles were given the name KamAZ-5410H in the GDR.
