The KamAZ-63968 , also known as Taifun-K ( Russian КамАЗ-63968 or "Тайфун-К", English also Typhoon-K ) is a Russian military vehicle, similar to the vehicles of the US Mine-Resistant-Ambush-Protected- Vehicle program. It offers space for 16 soldiers and is currently only intended for special forces. It is being built by the Russian company KAMAZ for the Typhoon program launched by the Russian land forces in 2010 . The competition model from GAZ is the Ural-63095 ("Taifun-U").

description

The three-axle vehicle offers space for up to 16 soldiers and their equipment, plus the driver. It can be equipped with a weapon mount that can be controlled from the vehicle. The armor to the occupants from direct fire weapons to Russian claims to caliber mm 30, the effect of booby traps with a warhead of up to 8 kg TNT and mines to protect. The engine is located behind the driver's cab.

variants

A modified version of the vehicle is also being built under the name KamAZ-63969 . It is designed for the transport of ten soldiers and a two-man crew and can be used as a medical vehicle, reconnaissance armored vehicle and command vehicle. The engine compartment is also armored and accessible from the inside, so repairs can also be made under fire. The first prototypes of the vehicle appeared in 2010 and series production began in 2013.

There is also an amphibious version of the KamAZ-63968.
