The KamAZ-6460 ( Russian КамАЗ-6460 ) is a truck produced by the KAMAZ plant in Naberezhnye Chelny . The heavy three-axle tractor unit is designed for trucks up to 62 tons total weight and is technically based on the KamAZ-54115 model, which is no longer in production . A similar vehicle exists with the KamAZ-65225 , but it has all-wheel drive .

In the early 2000s, KAMAZ developed a tractor unit from the existing KamAZ-54115 model for particularly heavy tractor units. The resulting KamAZ-6460 has been in series production since 2003. The tractor unit has two driven rear axles and therefore no four-wheel drive. This also distinguishes it from the KamAZ-65225, which appeared a year later and is designed for similarly heavy loads, but has all-wheel drive. A two-axle version of the tractor has also been available since 2003 with the KamAZ-5460 .
Various engines were used in the course of production. So engines from Cummins Engine were used, but above all engines from the in-house production of KAMAZ. The currently offered V8 four-stroke diesel engine has an output of 400 hp (294 kW) with a displacement of 11.76 liters and complies with the EURO 4 emissions standard. A supplier part from German manufacturer ZF Friedrichshafen is used as the transmission . It is manual and has 16 gears.
The high gross train weight of 62 tons in connection with the Russian motorization results in a high fuel consumption of 63 l / 100 km at a constant speed of 80 km / h. At a constant 60 km / h, the consumption is 45 l / 100 km.
Several different versions of the tractor are built, but only differ in details. Since 2016 there has been a successor for the vehicle with the KamAZ-65806 .
