Opus III
Opus III was a British electro and pop band from London that had a worldwide hit in 1992 with It's a Fine Day . The band name comes from the silent film Opus 3 by Walter Ruttmann from 1924.
Band history
In 1992, Ian Munro, Kevin Dodds, Kirsty Hawkshaw and Nigel Walton Opus III and published in July, the debut album Mind Fruit , female on the Hawkshaws voice with Ambient - House -Sounds merged. The pre-single It’s a Fine Day , a cover version of the 1983 song by British singer Jane , was released in February . The dance track reached number five in the UK charts and number one on the Billboard Dance Charts, but also the top 20 in Germany and Austria and the top 30 in Switzerland . The follow-up single I Talk to the Wind , a cover version of the 1969 title by progressive rock band King Crimson , hit stores, but failed to follow up on the success of It's a Fine Day and only hit the charts briefly in the UK ( 52nd place).
The second album , Guru Mother , was released in June 1994 and again contained elements from ambient and house. The release When You Made the Mountain reached number 1 on the Billboard Dance Charts again, but otherwise went largely unnoticed. The single track Hand in Hand that followed in August also fell short of expectations and only climbed a notable position in the US dance charts (14th place). The group then split up and Hawkshaw devoted himself to working as a studio musician , including for DJ Tiesto and The Orb .
