Kiran Pratapsinh Ashar (born June 19, 1947 in Bombay , British India , † May 27, 2017 in Mumbai , India ) was an Indian cricketer .
Life
Kiran Ashar was born on June 19, 1947, around two months before India gained independence from the United Kingdom , in the city of Bombay in what was then the Crown Colony of British India . In the years 1968 to 1978, the right-handed wicket keeper completed seven first-class games for the Bombay cricket team , which represented the capital Bombay in the domestic cricket championship. His first call-up to the selection he had in the Irani Cup of the 1968/69 season in the Bombay as the title holder of the Ranji Trophy against the rest of India national team in the Brabourne Stadium in Bombay. The game ended for Ashar due to injury after a cross from Padmakar Shivalkar hit player- opening wicket-keeper / batsman Kiran Ashar in the groin area , making it impossible for him to continue that day. His next first-class game he followed in the semifinals of the Ranji Trophy of the season 1976/77 against the Tamil Nadu cricket team at Wankhede Stadium . Here he shone through his skills as a wicket keeper and contributed 86 points when he opened the innings for his captain Sunil Gavaskar . Ashar, who in addition to the Bombay Cricket Team also appeared for the West Zone Cricket Team , then also completed the final of the Ranji Trophy 1976/77, which Bombay was able to win against Delhi . Together with Gavaskar, Ashar also came to the Associated Cement Company Cricket Team , which was sponsored by the Associated Cement Companies , and later played alongside the Nirlon Cricket Team . It was also Gavaskar who tried to persuade Ashar to continue playing at the local level. After his career, Ashkar worked as a youth coach. Ashar died on May 27, 2017, about three weeks before his 70th birthday, in Jaslok Hospital in his native city, which was now called Mumbai.
