Irani Cup

The Irani Cup has been a first-class competition that has been held since the 1959/60 season and is between the winner of the Ranji Trophy and a Rest of India team made up of the other teams from the previous Ranji Trophy season.

history

The trophy was named after ZR Irani, the treasurer (1928 / 29–1945 / 46), vice-president (1963 / 64–1964 / 65) and president (1966 / 67–1968 / 69) of the Indian association BCCI. After it was held at the beginning of the season at the end of the season, it took place at the beginning of the same from 1964/65. In 2013 it was moved back to the end and so two Irani Cups took place once in the 2012/13 season.

Of the 54 editions so far, Rest of India was able to win 26, with another draw and once Rest of India was not the opponent. The team that won the trophy against Rest of India most often is Bombay with 14 wins.
