Ranji Trophy 2013/14
The Ranji Trophy 2013/14 was the 79th season of the national first-class cricket competition in India . The winner was Karnataka , who won their 7th Ranji Trophy.
format
The teams played in three groups once against each other team in their group. The group allocation is based on that of the previous season 2012/2013 , with the last group of groups A and B being relegated to group C and the two group leaders of group C being promoted to groups A and B. A team received 6 points for a win and 3 points for a draw (both teams achieve the same number of runs ). If no result is achieved and the game ends in a draw, the results after the first innings count . There are three points for a win and one point for a tie or a loss. A bonus point is awarded for wins with one innings or with a lead of 10 wickets. The first three teams from groups A and B qualify for the quarter-finals, and the best two teams from group C. From there, the winner of the Ranji Trophy is played out in neutral stadiums in the knockout system.

The winner of the Ranji Trophy, Karnataka, qualified for the Irani Cup 2013/14 and played against the rest of India . Karnataka won the encounter with one innings and 222 runs.
