Ranji Trophy 2019/20

The Ranji Trophy 2019/20 was the 86th season of the national first-class cricket competition in India and was held from December 9, 2019 to March 13, 2019. The winner was Saurashtra , who prevailed against Bengal in the final with a better result in the first innings .

format

The teams played in four groups once against each other team in their group. Groups A and B each had nine teams, Group C and the Plate Group had ten. A team received 6 points for a win and 3 points for a draw (both teams achieve the same number of runs ). If no result is achieved and the game ends in a draw, the results after the first innings count . There are three points for a win and one point for a tie or a loss. A bonus point is awarded for wins with one innings or with a lead of 10 wickets. The winner of the plate group will be promoted to group C, while the first two teams from group C will be promoted to groups A and B. In their places came the two worst teams from groups A and B, while the tenth team from group C was relegated to the plate group. The best five teams from Group A and B qualified, from Group C the best two teams, and the winner from the Plate Group qualified for the quarter-finals. From there, the winner of the Ranji Trophy was played in neutral stadiums in the knockout system.
