The KamAZ-43501 ( Russian КамАЗ-43501 ), also known as the "Mustang" (Russian Мустанг), is a four-wheel drive truck produced by the KAMAZ plant in Naberezhnye Chelny . The flatbed truck, which has been built since 2003, is a lighter version of the KamAZ-4350 and is also used for military purposes.

Just like the KamAZ-4350, serial production of the vehicle began in 2003. The main difference between the two trucks is that the KamAZ-43501 is much more compact and can be loaded with one ton less. The entire vehicle was shortened by around 1.5 meters.

The construction of the KamAZ-43501 is similar to that of the other trucks in the series. The engine and transmission come from our own production. The built-in diesel engine is a V8 with a displacement of almost eleven liters. The manual gearbox is a standard five-speed gearbox, with a two-stage off-road reduction being connected downstream. This means that there are effectively ten gears available.

The powerful motor, permanent all-wheel drive , all- terrain reduction and the individual tires used all around ensure the necessary off-road mobility. The vehicle is also able to drive through bodies of water up to 1.65 meters deep.

A version with a slightly larger payload has also been available since 2003, the KamAZ-4350 . The truck has been in service with the Russian Armed Forces since around 2007. As of March 2013, there were around 730 units in stock. There the truck takes on tasks that were previously assigned to the GAZ-66 or those that exceeded the capacity of a GAZ-3308 . A successor to the vehicle has been built since 2008 with the KamAZ-43502 .
