The KamAZ-6522 ( Russian КамАЗ-6522 ) is a truck produced by the KAMAZ plant in Naberezhnye Chelny . The first prototypes of the heavy tipper with all-wheel drive were made in 1996. The chassis of this type is the basis for a number of the manufacturer's trucks.
vehicle description
The first vehicles of the types KamAZ-6522 and KamAZ-6520 (without all-wheel drive) were built in 1996. It is not exactly clear when series production began. Some sources speak of 2002, the truck has been on the manufacturer's website since at least 2005.
As of 2016, motors from in-house production are installed in the basic version. The large-volume diesel engine with a displacement of just under twelve liters has an output of 400 hp (294 kW) and a torque of almost 1,800 Nm. The manual eight-speed gearbox with off-road reduction is a component supplied by the German company ZF Friedrichshafen . The vehicle is able to drive through bodies of water up to 1.80 meters deep, which in addition to the all-wheel drive increases the cross-country mobility.
In addition to the body as a tipper, the manufacturer also supplies tractor units, flatbed trucks and chassis based on the KamAZ-6522. In addition, heavy-duty tractors are built, also with the different drive formula 8 × 8.
In February 2012, KAMAZ built the two millionth truck in the company's history, a KamAZ-6522 chassis. On this occasion, President Vladimir Putin also visited the plant. Since 2016 there has been a successor for the vehicle with the KamAZ-65802 .
