geography
Chanteau is located about eight kilometers north-northeast of Orléans in the middle of the Forêt d'Orléans . Chanteau is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Lyé-la-Forêt in the north, Rebréchien in the east and northeast, Marigny-les-Usages in the east and southeast, Semoy in the south, Fleury-les-Aubrais in the south and southwest and Cercottes in the west. In the south of the municipality is the Service de santé des armées , the medical and pharmaceutical service of the French army.
