Chanteau is a French commune with 1,470 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loiret in the region Center-Val de Loire . It belongs to the Arrondissement Orléans and the canton Fleury-les-Aubrais . The inhabitants are called Chanteausiens .

geography

Chanteau is located about eight kilometers north-northeast of Orléans in the middle of the Forêt d'Orléans . Chanteau is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Lyé-la-Forêt in the north, Rebréchien in the east and northeast, Marigny-les-Usages in the east and southeast, Semoy in the south, Fleury-les-Aubrais in the south and southwest and Cercottes in the west. In the south of the municipality is the Service de santé des armées , the medical and pharmaceutical service of the French army.
