Sandillon is a French municipality with 3971 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loiret in the region Center-Val de Loire . It belongs to the Arrondissement Orléans and is part of the canton of Saint-Jean-le-Blanc (until 2015: Jargeau ). The inhabitants call themselves Sandillonnais (es) .
geography
Sandillon is located on the Loire in the countryside Sologne , about 12 kilometers east of Orléans , making it part of the UNESCO - World Heritage Val de Loire . The Dhuy River runs through the south of the municipality . Sandillon is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Bou in the north, Darvoy and Jargeau in the north-east, Férolles in the east, Vienne-en-Val in the south-east, Marcilly-en-Villette in the south, Saint-Cyr-en-Val in the west and south-west, Jean- le-Blanc to the west and Saint-Denis-en-Val to the northwest.
