La Chapelle-Saint-Mesmin is a French municipality with 10,353 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loiret in the region Center-Val de Loire . The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement Orléans and the canton Saint-Jean-de-la-Ruelle (until 2015: canton Ingré ). The inhabitants are called chapellois .

geography

La Chapelle-Saint-Mesmin is located in the middle of the Loire Valley on the north bank of the river. The place is surrounded by the neighboring communities Ingré in the north, Saint-Jean-de-la-Ruelle in the northeast and east, Saint-Pryvé-Saint-Mesmin in the south and east and Chaingy in the west.

Archaeologists were able to uncover prehistoric finds from around 15,000 BC.
