Boulay-les-Barres is a French municipality with 982 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loiret in the region Center-Val de Loire . It belongs to the Arrondissement Orléans and the canton Meung-sur-Loire (until 2015: canton Patay ). The inhabitants are called Boulaysiens .

Boulay-les-Barres is about twelve kilometers northwest of Orléans . Boulay-les-Barres is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Bricy in the north, Gidy in the east, Ormes in the south and south-east, Bucy-Saint-Liphard in the south and south-west, Gémigny in the west and Saint-Péravy-la-Colombe in the west and north-west.

The former route nationale 155 (today's D955) runs through the municipality .
