Cléry-Saint-André is a French municipality with 3443 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Loiret in the region Center-Val de Loire . It belongs to the Arrondissement Orléans and the canton Beaugency (until 2015: Cléry-Saint-André ). The place is 15 km southwest of Orléans , on the banks of the Ardoux River .

Clery is eponymous for the Orléans Cléry wine region .

history

The place was first mentioned as "Clariacus vicus" in the middle of the 6th century.

In Cléry King Louis XI. and his second wife Charlotte of Savoy , both died in 1483, buried.

The parish and later independent parish of Saint-André was absorbed during the revolution . In 1918, Cléry was renamed Cléry-Saint-André.
