Cercottes is a French commune with 1,459 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loiret in the region Center-Val de Loire . It belongs to the Arrondissement Orléans and the canton Meung-sur-Loire (until 2015: canton Artenay ). The inhabitants are called Cercottais .

Geography and traffic

Cercottes is about nine kilometers north of Orléans . Cercottes is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Chevilly in the north, Chanteau in the east, Fleury-les-Aubrais in the southeast, Saran in the south and Gidy in the west.

The former route nationale 20 (today's D2020) runs through the municipality . The station is on the Paris – Bordeaux line .
