The KamAZ-5460 ( Russian КамАЗ-5460 ) is a truck from the production of the KAMAZ plant in Naberezhnye Chelny . The two-axle tractor unit is equipped with rear-wheel drive and has been in series production since 2003. The KamAZ-6460 is a similar but three-axle version of the truck. Since 2013, the KamAZ-5490 has been a more modern successor to the vehicle.
vehicle description
Production of the KamAZ-5460 as the manufacturer's first two-axle tractor unit began in 2003. From the beginning, diesel engines from in-house production were installed, most of which had an output of 400 hp (294 kW). The large-volume eight-cylinder V-engines have a displacement of 11.76 l. Initially, they only met the EURO-2 emissions standard, but engines with EURO-3 were installed as early as 2004. Today the truck is delivered with the same engine, which now complies with the EURO 4 standard.
Various parts of the truck do not come from domestic production, but are obtained from foreign manufacturers. This also includes the transmission that is supplied by ZF Friedrichshafen . Parts of the injection system come from Bosch . From around 2010 the engine service life was given as one million kilometers.
Until 2009, the first generation of trucks was still manufactured with a driver's cab in the old design. In 2009 there was a revision of the sheet metal parts, in particular the radiator grille was designed more modern. In addition, the apron tanker TSA-40 (Russian ТЗА-40) was built on the basis of the KamAZ-5460, which can transport 40,000 liters of aircraft fuel with the appropriate semi-trailer.
Today the vehicle is offered by the manufacturer in two slightly different versions. Since 2013 there has been a modernized successor with the KamAZ-5490 .
