The KamAZ-54112 ( Russian КамАЗ-54112 ) is a truck produced by the KAMAZ plant in Naberezhnye Chelny . The vehicle was built in series from 1980 until probably 2006. The main difference between the model and the previous KamAZ-5410 is the increased payload. In addition to the basic version as a tractor unit , tippers were also built.

vehicle description

KamAZ-54112 as a tipper in Chile (around 2010)

The KamAZ-54112 was developed from the KamAZ-5410 in the late 1970s and was built in series from 1980. Externally, the two vehicles hardly differ, but the KamAZ-54112 is able to pull trailers with a heavier weight with higher fifth wheel loads. This required some modifications to the frame. In addition, minor changes have been made to the arrangement of various technical components such as the spare wheel and tanks, which are mainly located directly behind or under the driver's cab.

In addition, the vehicle is designed for operation in difficult climatic conditions. The basic version can be operated at temperatures from −40 to +50 ° C and can withstand a humidity of the outside air of 98% at +35 ° C. In addition, a version with the abbreviation ChL (Russian ХЛ) was built, which is operational down to −50 ° C.

When exactly production was stopped is unclear. It is likely that production, like that of the KamAZ-5410, finally came to an end in 2006. A successor for both models has been built since 1995 with the KamAZ-54115 .

As with its predecessor, the GDR also imported KamAZ-54112 vehicles. Some were retrofitted with tipping hydraulics so that appropriate semi-trailers for the transport of bulk goods could be operated in conjunction with the vehicles. In the GDR, these subsequently modified vehicles were given the designation KamAZ-54112H.
