The Ural-5323 ( Russian Урал-5323 , also called URAL-5323 by the manufacturer ) is a heavy truck with four axles and all-wheel drive , which is also used for military purposes. The vehicle is produced by the Russian Uralsky Avtomobilny Sawod , or UralAZ for short, in Miass .

The idea of a heavy, all-terrain, four-axle vehicle already existed in Soviet times. As early as 1964, the NAMI-058 was built in the vehicle construction institute NAMI , which is similar in structure to the Ural-5323, but uses different technology. It was only after the collapse of the Soviet Union, however, that the Ural-5323 was first mass-produced in 1991, at that time with cabs from KamAZ and engines from in-house production of the UralAZ.

Three years later, in 1994, Iveco and the Uralsky Avtomobilny Sawod founded a cooperation. This made it possible to replace the unsuitable KamAZ cabs with cabs from the Iveco T range . Up to 2000 there were only short cabs, after that versions with sleeping places could also be ordered.

The engines used during the construction period changed more frequently. Both KamAZ diesel engines and the UralAZ itself were used. Later the Jaroslawski Motorny Sawod delivered different versions of the JaMZ-238 , but six-cylinder JaMZ-236 were also used. As of 2016, six-cylinder in-line diesel engines of the more modern type JaMZ-536 will also be used.

Model variants

In the course of the production, which has now lasted two and a half decades, various variants of the Ural-5323 were manufactured in the UralAZ. In particular, the chassis is also used for special bodies. The following list is not complete and shows the status from 2010.

  • Ural-5323 and Ural-532301 - basic models with a flatbed structure.
