The Ural-3255 ( Russian Урал-3255 ) is a four-wheel drive truck from the production of the Russian Uralsky Avtomobilny Sawods . The vehicle is based on the Ural-4320 and is used to transport people in rough terrain.

vehicle description

Vehicles like the Ural-3255 are used to transport a large number of people to places that cannot be reached by normal buses due to the terrain they drive on. Accordingly, they are used, for example, in remote regions such as Siberia to transport workers in the oil and forest industries. Similar truck-bus combinations also exist from the manufacturer KAMAZ , with Neftekamski Awtosawod supplying suitable bodies.

In order to be able to manufacture trucks for the transport of people, a new plant was built in 1999 and 2000 by the Uralsky Avtomobilny Zavod. This is able to produce up to 1000 corresponding superstructures per year. The model versions that are still offered today were developed during the same period. These are the Ural-3255 and Ural-32551, both of which are based on the chassis of the Ural-4320 and also use its cabin. There is also the two-axle Ural-32552, which uses the chassis and cab of the Ural-43206 . As a result, different cabs were used over the years. In addition to the classic long-nosed version, trucks with the Iveco T-series cab are also available today . The first 28 Ural-3255 trucks were built in 2000.

The number of passengers in the passenger compartment varies depending on the version. As of 2016, the manufacturer offers bodies for 14 to 22 seats. The engine, like the gearbox, always comes from the Jaroslawski Motorny Sawod (JaMZ), which, like the UralAZ, belongs to the GAZ group .

Since 2015 there have been trucks based on the URAL NEXT that fulfill the same function. The Russian army also uses Ural-3255 vehicles (see picture above).
