The URAL NEXT ( Russian УРАЛ NEXT) is a four-wheel drive truck produced by the Russian Uralsky Avtomobilny Sawods (UralAZ). It is the successor to the much better known Ural-4320 and has been in series production since 2015. Some versions of the vehicle use the chassis of the Ural-5557 as a base.
vehicle description
The first prototypes for a successor to the Ural-4320, which had been in series production since 1977, appeared in March 2014. At that time it was not yet clear whether the model would actually be produced in series. While the spelling in the press is also inconsistent with Ural Next or Ural NEXT , the manufacturer clearly identifies the vehicle as URAL NEXT (or in the Cyrillic writing system УРАЛ NEXT ).
Series production of the URAL NEXT began on November 24, 2015 in the Uralsky Avtomobilny Zavod in Miass . As the company belongs to the GAZ Group , the driver's cab of the GAZelle NEXT van , which GAZ has been building in series since 2013 , was used for the new vehicle . The bonnet and the fenders, on the other hand, have been redesigned. The company's investments amounted to about 800 million rubles .
The cabs for the trucks are completely produced at GAZ in Nizhny Novgorod . The sheet metal parts for this are supplied by the Japanese company Komatsu . All available engines are supplied by the Jaroslawski Motorny Sawod . Six-cylinder diesel engines with a power range from 240 to 312 hp (176 to 229 kW) are available. The maximum service life of the engines is given as one million kilometers, with maintenance intervals of 15,000 kilometers. The transmission comes from the German company ZF Friedrichshafen . In contrast, the two-stage reduction gear, for example, is still manufactured in the UralAZ itself.
The price of a URAL NEXT starts at around 2.8 million rubles, which as of July 2016 corresponds to around 40,000 euros. Typical competitors of the URAL NEXT on the Russian market include the KrAZ-6322 , the KamAZ-43118 , the MAZ-6317 or the Mercedes-Benz Zetros .
Model variants
The URAL NEXT is offered in two fundamentally different versions. On the one hand as a model with three axes, on the other hand there is a version with only two axes. This vehicle is accordingly the successor to the Ural 43206 .
The three-axis model serves as the basis for various superstructures. In addition to the standard flatbed structure, there are tippers as well as mobile cranes or vehicles for transporting people through rough terrain. The tipper uses the chassis of the Ural-5557 as a basis. In addition to single cabs, trucks with double cabs are also built, just as there are versions of the GAZelle NEXT with double cabs.
