GAZ group

The GAZ Group ( Russian Группа ГАЗ ) is the largest automotive group in Russia. It emerged in 2005 from the restructuring of RusPromAvto , which was founded in 2000 .

Companies

The GAZ Group is an Open Joint Stock Company (OJSC) and belongs to the Basic Element asset holding company of the Russian oligarch Oleg Vladimirovich Deripaska . The chairman of the board is Vadim Sorokin.

In 2007, 226,192 vans and trucks (2005: 169,268), 22,344 buses (18,716), 40,034 passenger cars (55,055) and 111,399 engines were built. Revenues for 2005, 2006 and 2007 were $ 3,527, 4,541 and 6,175 million, respectively.

As a result of the financial and economic crisis, the GAZ Group was on the verge of insolvency in mid-February 2009.

The Uralsky Avtomobilny Zavod (UralAZ) was part of the group from 2005 and was later separated and sold. It produces off-road trucks with special bodies and special vehicles.
