KK Komatsu Seisakusho ( Japanese 株式会社 小松 製作 所 , Kabushiki kaisha Komatsu Seisakusho , English Komatsu Ltd. ), listed in the Nikkei 225 share index , is a Japanese industrial group based in Akasaka , Minato , Tokyo . The Komatsu Group has 185 companies and 25 factories around the world. Komatsu is the second largest construction machinery manufacturer in the world.

Together, Komatsu and Caterpillar build about 85% of the mining equipment manufactured worldwide.

history

  • 1921: Komatsu Ltd. is founded on May 13, 1921.
  • 1924: Komatsu built its first press, a 450 ton sheet forming press.
  • 1931: Production of Japan's first tracked tractor.
  • 1934: Listing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange (opening price: JPY 85.50)
  • 1935: Start of the production of high-quality cast parts and special steel materials.
  • 1941: Production of large hydraulic presses begins.
  • 1943: Produces the Komatsu Model 1 (prototype of the Japanese bulldozer ).

Products and works

The Komatsu Group's product range includes a wide variety of construction machinery. Products include various types of excavators such as backhoe loaders, crawler excavators, wheeled excavators and mini excavators. The range also includes various wheel loader vehicles , such as compact loaders and telescopic loaders ; also bulldozers and dump trucks. Among them is the world's largest bulldozer, the Komatsu D575 with a gross vehicle weight of 150 tons. Large excavators for use in opencast mining with an operating weight of up to 752 t and a bucket volume of up to 42 m 3 are also part of the product range. Since taking over Valmet in 2004, Komatsu has also been active in the forest machinery sector. The machines have been officially delivered as Komatsu since 2011. Other technical products include forklifts , industrial robots , compressors , tunnel boring machines and generators .

The main location in Germany is the plant in Hanover , which is operated by the subsidiary Komatsu Hanomag GmbH . Wheel loaders and mobile excavators are developed and produced in Hanover. In 2010, 1,543 units were produced in Hanover, in the boom year 2007 it was 4,070. Another important location is in Düsseldorf , where Komatsu Mining Germany GmbH is located at Buscherhofstrasse 10 on the former premises of Mannesmann Demag Baumaschinen GmbH in the Hassels district and produces mine excavators.
