Telescopic handlers
The telescopic loader , after Baugeräteliste (BGL) Telescopic called spread, but also as a telescopic forklift or telehandler called, is a mobile construction machine which is designed as an equipment carrier. - All-wheel steering with the option of choosing between different operating modes: front-axle steering (for fast road travel), synchronous steering (both axles have the same size, opposite wheel angle for the smallest turning circles ) and crab steering (both steering axles have the same wheel angle, for simultaneous forward and side-to-side or backward steering - and sideways movement). Telehandlers are often equipped with large loading forks (also for containers), but can usually swap the load receptacle.
Reach stackers are also equipped with a telescopic arm that can be raised at an angle, but they specialize in handling containers (20, 40, 45-foot) by gripping the corner mounts from above or swap bodies by reaching under from above . At least Liebherr has been building a type (LRS645) with a circular telescopic arm since 2011, when pushed together to form a 50 ° circular sector. Its special advantage is that it can reach a container in the 2nd row in front of one stacked at the same height in the 1st row and it is easier to reach down from a high pier to a deep ship deck.
