history

The story of JCB's worldwide rise began in Staffordshire on a very small scale. On October 23, 1945, Joseph Cyril Bamford, later known as "Mr. JCB ”, with the manufacture of its first product in a rented garage in Uttoxeter . Using a welding machine that he had bought second-hand for £ 1 , Bamford made a farming trailer from scrap material, which he sold on the town market for £ 45. He used the money to buy new materials.

In 1968 the company took over Chaseside, a British manufacturer of construction machinery, especially wheel loaders .

In 1990, at the Smithfield Show in London, the company presented its own tractor , the Fastrac , which was launched a year later.

In 1995 a distribution agreement was reached with Renault Agriculture , according to which Renault will distribute the Fastrac and JCB telescopic handlers in France.

In 2004 the 500,000th JCB machine was manufactured. As Europe's largest manufacturer of construction machinery, JCB exports 75% of its products to over 150 countries. In 2005, in its 60th year of existence, JCB sold more than 45,000 machines. In the 65th year of its existence, 2010, the company sold 51,600 machines worldwide.

To document the performance, JCB attempted to break the existing speed record for diesel-powered land vehicles with a specially developed racing car, the JCB Dieselmax, which is equipped with two 750 hp engines. This was achieved on August 23, 2006 at 563.418 km / h. The previous record was exceeded by almost 50 percent.
