history

The origins of the Manitou Group go back to 1953. It was then that Andrée Braud and Henri Faucheux founded the Braud & Faucheux company . The company initially dedicated itself to the manufacture of smaller machines for agriculture and the construction industry. In 1958, Andrée's son Marcel Braud developed an all-terrain forklift from an ordinary tractor . The Manitou brand was introduced in the same year .

In 1981, the company dropped the old company name Braud & Faucheux and used the name Manitou instead . Production of telehandlers with four-wheel drive also began that year. Due to its economic success, Manitou went public three years later. In the following years several foreign branches were founded and the product range expanded. In the mid-1990s, for example, the company introduced the manufacture of rotating telehandlers and aerial work platforms. In 1993, the French industrial truck manufacturer Loc was taken over .

In 2006 annual sales reached the one billion euro mark for the first time. Two years later Manitou took over the US construction machinery manufacturer Gehl , to which the Mustang Manufacturing Company has belonged since 1997 .

In 2017 Manitou presented the MLA-T, an articulated telescopic loader , at Agritechnica .

On the SIMA 2019 presented Manitou Hoflader ago.
