The Mecalac Construction Ltd. is a construction machinery manufacturer of compact wheel and swivel loaders from Schleswig-Holstein . Mecalac Baumaschinen previously operated under the name of Ahlmann Baumaschinen GmbH and has been part of the French GROUPE MECALAC SA since 2002

history

The beginnings of the products of Mecalac Baumaschinen GmbH go back to 1952, when Ahlmann Carlshütte KG in Büdelsdorf began with the swing loader production under the management of Josef-Severin Ahlmann - the swing loader developed by Josef-Severin Ahlmann was the world's first functional wheel loader who could tip his load to one side. Metal has been processed in Büdelsdorf in the Carlshütte since 1827 .

In the 1960s, Ahlmann was the first company in the world to mass-produce wheel loaders with power-controlled, hydrostatic drive. In the course of 1972, the swivel loader division was spun off from Carlshütte KG and made an independent subsidiary under the name of Ahlmann-Maschinenbau GmbH. In the mid-1970s, Ahlmann equipped the Bundeswehr with special swivel loaders, which differed from series production in that the cab offers space for two people and the speed was increased so that the swivel loader can easily take part in road traffic.

In 1979 AMB expanded its range to include the articulated loader and in 1992 was able to present the world's most compact swivel loader, the AS 4. Since then, the product range has been expanded and renewed at regular intervals, for example by adding a telehandler to the product range.

In 2002, the Mecalac Group was formed from the merger of Mecalac SA, one of the leading manufacturers of mobile excavators in France, and Ahlmann Baumaschinen GmbH. The Mecalac Group produces and sells compact construction machines, including swivel loaders, wheel loaders and telehandlers, as well as wheeled excavators, crawler excavators and road-rail excavators. On January 1, 2012, Ahlmann Baumaschinen GmbH was renamed Mecalac Baumaschinen GmbH.

At the end of 2016, Mecalac announced that it would take over Terex's English subsidiary , which manufactures backhoe loaders, among other things. Two years later, in 2018, the wheel loader production of the French agricultural machinery manufacturer Pichon was taken over.
