Theodor Valentin Volkmar
Theodor Valentin Volkmar (also Volckmar and Volckmer ) (born November 23, 1781 in Frankenberg (Eder) ; † February 8, 1847 in Marburg ) was a German lawyer and mayor and the first mayor of the city of Marburg.
Life
Volkmar was initially a lawyer in Frankenberg an der Eder. During the time of the Kingdom of Westphalia , he was Mayor of the city and Canton of Frankenberg ; immediately after the end of the kingdom in 1813, he was the provisional mayor of the city. In the re-established Electorate of Hesse , Volkmar worked in Frankenberg and from 1817 in Marburg as government procurator and / or senior court attorney.
From 1833 to 1835 Volkmar was honorary mayor and thus mayor of Marburg . With the entry into force of the Hessian municipal code of 1834, the Mayor of Marburg was given the title of Lord Mayor . Volkmar was the first to be elected to this office in 1835 and held it until 1846.
Volkmar was accepted into the Marburg Freemason Lodge Marc Aurel to the Flaming Star in 1812 . In 1834 he was "for services to the welfare of the city as mayor," the honorary citizen of Marburg appointed.
